Light Photography

In this protect we were tasked to try light photography. Light photography is when you use a slow shutter speed in a dim area and use a light to draw out a picture or a word. This was difficult for us because when writing words, we had to write them backwards to show up properly in the photo. The drawings were also hard because one bad stroke ends up in the photograph.

This was my first photo I took for light photography. You can see all the lines are connected because of moving the light. It’s a bit messy but you can kind of see the word I was trying to spell which was my name. It was also challenging writing everything backwards for the first time.
For the second picture I chose to spell the word potato. The reason I chose the word was because in the office we were taking photos in a tile on the ceiling said potato. The challenging part in photographing the word was that I had to write the P and A backwards so that it would show up correctly in the photo. For this photo I turned the light off when switching between letters to get rid of the lines connecting the letters together in my first picture.
For my first drawing light photograph I chose to do a simple sailboat. I did it all in one line. I was originally going to add water to the image, but it looked too messy and confusing.
For my last photograph I wanted to draw a giraffe because it looks funny. The challenge was getting all the proportions correctly like the neck, tail, head, etc.
