Research: Photography Genres and Photographers

For this project, we were instructed to select two genres of photography that interest us. From each of these genres, we should choose three photographers whose work we admire and want to emulate.

I picked nature and abstract genres for my project. I chose nature because I feel confident in taking nature shots. As for abstract, I tried it before but wasn’t satisfied, so I want to give it another shot. The three nature photographers that I chose were Cath Simard, Ted Gore, and Melissa Groo. The three abstract photographers I chose were Andrew s. Gray, Harry Callahan, and Angie McMonigal.

NATURE PHOTOGRAPHERS

Cath Simard is a nature photographer, born in Quebec, Canada, in 1989. She now resides in Canmore, Alberta, in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Although Catherine wasn’t part of a movement, she began her career as a model at 15. Later, she left her high-paying job to become a banana farmer and photographer.
