The three things I chose:

  1. Batman.
  2. Basketball.
  3. Video Games.

Why choose these?

I wanted to experiment with them and see what I could make out of it. I love playing basketball and strive for it to play a larger role in my life so it influences me all the time. I picked Batman because he is my favorite superhero, I had a mask, and I thought why not try to have some fun with it. I then used video games as well, however I used the hardware required to play these games and not just the video games themselves. Since these three things were an easy out reach and they were things I knew about; and could therefore use them a little bit more creatively.

For this project, we took 3 different types of portraits photos. We were told to take a standard selfie and two others, however, there was a choice for the last two photographs. The choices were between a fantastical selfie, which is a highly edited selfie that can almost seem magical, as well as a contextual selfie which uses the objects from subjects that can talk about you without putting yourself into the photograph. This has been one of my favorite projects by far that we have done.

Standard Selfie:

F 8 | ISO 100 | 1/160 SS

Contextual Selfie:

F 3.5 | ISO 1250 | 1/30 SS

Fantastical Selfie:

F 4.5 | ISO 3200 | 1/15 SS
