Capstone Project Blog Post #1

This is my first blog post considering my main project this semester. We have been working for a few weeks now and have gotten pictures and have edited them but now it is time to talk about our experience thus far.

What Was My Process And Procedure?

So essentially what I did was, I could go outside for maybe thirty minutes and walk around trying to find some interesting types of plants that could make for interesting photographs. Once I found something I would take a couple photos of it. I would then delete the photos I didn’t like and keep the best one. I would then edit the photo and try different ways of editing it.

What Was My Goal?

My goal was to find the best style of editing these photos and finding a good area to take photos in general. I just wanted to find the most well-rounded area of editing in order to make the photos more pleasing to the eye.

What Did I learn?

I learned it is extremely easy to mess up your photo with editing and that even one setting can completely destroy the photograph. I had to tweak my way of editing and try and focus a little more on the colors of the photograph rather than details because I am not yet good enough at editing to make the details pop without either too much shadow or too much over saturation. My editing that focused on detailing the picture didn’t work and made the photo blurry. However, on another photo I focused more on colors and making the photo more colorful. This made the photo look much better and pop out a little better than the others.

Examples:

ISO 320 | F 4.5 | SS 1/50

This is my more successful photograph in editing where I focused more on the color aspect than the detailing. I took this photo a few days ago at a bush that’s around my house.

ISO 125 | F 5.6 | SS 1/80

This is my lease successful and this was taken about a week ago down my road next to chain link fence that had some overgrown grass next to it. I had also accidently made the photo darker.
