Hello everyone, and welcome back for today’s post. In today’s post, I did a proposal for a major project I will be working on this semester. In my project, I chose to focus on nature and landscape photography, and I want to portray my work by making my photographs come to life and tell a story to viewers so my pictures look presentable and not just plain and boring. And so, they can set a mood by showing how the natural world can create certain feelings within elements we may not realize.
My Vision and Strategy for this Project
My vision for this project is that my photography will open the viewers’ eyes to the true beauty of the natural world by capturing animals, plants, or trees. I also want to demonstrate this beauty in the natural world through the depth of field the camera can create for an area. In addition, I want my photography to capture the viewers’ attention by telling a story.
A strategy I will use is to demonstrate uniqueness within my shots and record information within my photographs to provide viewers with information on the specific camera settings I used to capture the shots I wanted and the location of where and how I caught my shots. Additionally, I want to incorporate trial and error by repeatedly taking pictures until I get what I want. I will include subjects to capture my viewers’ eyes and draw their attention to my photographs. Lastly, I want to portray landscapes by taking wide shots to capture the entire depth of field in a specific landscape to show that there’s a lot more to an area than we may realize.
The Research I Conducted in Choosing Nature and Landscape Photography
In my research on nature and landscape photography, I found multiple tutorials online that showed me the essentials of taking nature and landscape photographs. In nature photography tutorials, I learned I should be creative, experiment with my shots, and not be afraid to try new things. I also learned from watching other professional nature photographers that nature photography can help a viewer understand the hidden beauty within the natural world by highlighting the plants, animals, stars, and other things we may miss by not focusing so much on them. In my research on landscape photography, I learned that it is essential to understand your surroundings. I knew that landscape photography not only shows the beauty of the natural world, but I also learned landscapes truly portray the depth of field in a specific area or scene.
My Genres and Photographic Style I Will Be Using
The genres I will focus on in this project are nature and landscape photography. The photographic style I will use for these genres is the depth of field close-up shots to show viewers the significant aspect of the beauty and setting of the natural world. Using close-up shots will allow viewers to see the detail and colors of what the natural world brings. Lastly, I will include moody photography to enable my viewers to understand the mood I’m trying to portray within my photographs.

In my research, I found a few YouTube tutorials from professional photographers discussing how to use elements and environments. Also, in my research, I found a few Adobe tutorials on removing blur or unwanted backgrounds and making my images look sharper. These tutorials also provide several examples to show viewers how they may want to shoot their nature and landscape shots.
The Project Design
In my project, I want to make my photographs stand out to viewers by incorporating lighting, depth of field, and setting the mood. So, my pictures can look presentable. I want my project to successfully reflect the trial-and-error experiences I went through to achieve my desired photographs. My work will be down-to-earth and let viewers know it takes lots of practice and experience to achieve your goal. I want to describe the hardships that tie into photography work. And with my photographs, I will demonstrate how I resolved those problems.
Summative Reflection
